About the Item

Medium: Acrylic, resin, and clear coat on aluminum with recessed float-frame Eric Moore's story doesn't start like many established artists. Unlike many of his artistic peers, Moore has not been drawing and creating art since he was young. He began drawing and painting in his early twenties after being inspired by the live painters he saw at music and arts festivals while he was in college. Almost 10 years later, in 2019, Moore began focusing full-time on art. He expanded the scope of his artistic interest beyond the visionary art style that was common in the festival world he came up in. Throughout 2019 and 2020, he explored new styles and developed a contemporary visual vocabulary that was imbued with recursive themes like geometric abstraction, minimalism, and color field painting. This new body of work focuses on the emotive capacity of color through the interaction of color, light and line. Moore's contemporary color field paintings entail large swaths of saturated gradations that seamlessly transition from one color to the next, as well as sequences of concentric color bands that explore the multifaceted relationship between color, beauty and the viewer. On a theoretical level, Moore favors the emotional impact of aesthetics over cerebral content. He aims to affect viewers viscerally rather than cognitively. His work embodies a minimalist ethos that doesn't attempt to reference anything external. By transcending our commonly held language, Moore is creating the space for a contemplative experience of pure subjectivity and abstraction. Ultimately, Moore's primary objective is simply to elicit a feeling of beauty. This painting will be shipped directly from the artist's studio.

ABOUT THIS PIECE: Color is the foundation of my work. My circles start as a mood or idea that eventually evolves into a colored circle. I am curious how different colours interact when they're placed next to each other. I experiment with intensity of colours and the different sensations colours evoke. Why a Circle? When I explore my fascination with this shape I discover that the circle represents all that is familiar and comforting. It is the shape of the rising sun, of a mother's nipple, of the iris of the eye, and of a full moon. I use the latest digital technology as a medium to create my circles. ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Ruth Adler is a Canadian artist whose mediums include paintings, works on paper, animated films and textiles. She is inspired by the city of Tel Aviv, music (she plays the harmonica) and her personal memories. Jim Kempner Fine Art...

Crimson Pulse I
By Dirk de Bruycker
Located in Los Angeles, CA
De Bruycker was born in Ghent, Belgium but has lived and worked in Santa Fe, NM for the past 30 years until his passing in July 2015. In addition to oil paint, De Bruycker also uses asphalt, gesso and cobalt drier on canvas. De Bruycker took an intuitive, process-oriented approach to his work, which he described as “emotive and fluid”. His abstract color forms were created with a palette composed of what he defined as “internal emotional” colors. De Bruycker was honored with the prestigious Visual Artist Fellowship Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and has paintings in the permanent collections of the New Mexico Art...
