Summer Blues is an original oil painting inspired by the beauty of the south coast. When visiting the sea the saturation and variety of the colours never fails to inspire.
Artsist Bio: Gemma Bedford was born in west Sussex. After over a decade in London working in publishing and then Interior Design Gemma returned to the Sussex /Hampshire borders. Alongside raising a family, she has been able to resume her love of art and is primarily self- taught. With family connections all along the Southern Coast of England she is lucky enough to spend time absorbed by the varying dramatic coastlines that Devon, Dorset, Hampshire and Sussex have to offer. She has spent several years quietly taking commissions and exhibiting small collections. Best known for atmospheric oil seascapes but also developing abstracts in mixed media. She also has a following of regular customers that love buying her work reinterpreted into textile designs on both scarves and cushions.

Summer Hope is part of a series of paintings made in 2021 inspired by early morning walks on the fell landscape. Her expressive paintings are very much influenced by the idea of a new day representing a new beginning, a hopeful emotional moment. This searching for hope was undoubtedly a subconscious response to an extraordinary time and her paintings celebrate the joy and freedom of being in the landscape. Jill is inspired by the landscape of the North East and most of her work is based on an ancient mining landscape called Cockfield Fell where she walks nearly every day. Her atmospheric paintings are a result of her exploration of the interplay between what is seen and what is felt about the landscape. She uses elements of what she sees and combines these with her imagination to create her paintings.
