About the Item

Kerry’s education followed the principles of the Bauhaus . He has practiced professionally in all three disciplines of Art, Design, and Architecture. Often as the liaison between these disciplines. He has lived and worked in Raleigh, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, and currently in Amsterdam and his paintings are scattered throughout the world in various corporate and private collections. In 'Wideflung', Horne's expressive and wide brushstrokes, together with simple colours and thin layers, capture movement. The rush of the city, or constant flux of people in an airport have been inspiration for the artist. As Degas with his ballerinas, Kerry Horne places the viewer in the middle of the event, getting completely soaked in the moment. However, at the same time, the viewer is not in movement, is an observer of the "mess", as when taking a photograph or people watching in a cafe. “One tries to read meaning out of sometimes apparently meaningless things. It is in this leap of association – this gap – where the artist constructs the work that the viewer struggles with. It is in this void where interpretations are fostered and new ideas are stumbled upon.” – Kerry Horne
