" agua fuego y sol” original abstract mixed media painting
RAVENTÓS I TORRAS, Maria Assumpció (Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Barcelona, 1930).
Trained at the Higher School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, in Barcelona, Raventós expanded her engraving and lithography studies at the Friedlaender workshop (Paris) and at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. He also made a trip to the East to study Japanese engraving. Initially he dedicated himself to engraving, but later he focused on the creation of tapestries, as a pre-eminent member of the Catalan Grau-Chaparral School and Susana Rolando, in Sant Cugat del Vallès. He has held twenty-three individual exhibitions of his work, since 1955, mainly in Spain but also outside our borders, in the United States, France, Sweden, Japan, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco, Yugoslavia and Belgium. In 1971 he won the first engraving prize at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, in 1973 the City of Barcelona of engraving, in 1976 the gold medal of the Fine Arts Circle of Madrid, same award that was granted him in the International Exhibition of Marseille of 1983, the prize in the International Textile Biennial of Bratislava in 1987, and the Cross of Sant Jordi in 1991. In addition, in 1982 he obtained the scholarship "Investigació de Noves Formes Expressives" of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Raventós is represented at the MACBA in Barcelona, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid, the Rufino Tamayo in Mexico and the Fine Arts International in Guinea.
