Abstract painting, like architecture, speaks to us about surfaces that interact with each
other, forming a representation of space through optical perspective. But while the
architect or designer projects perspectives in situ, painting can escape these material
limitations. A house stands on a contingent plane, which restricts the ability to express
concrete emotions. Art, on the other hand, allows us to open up new possibilities that
surpass those of the physical world. It can unfold or condense the formal elements that
the artist desires, generating radically harmonious spaces.
The artist establishes a wide range of forms and colors that function as a vocabulary in
her meticulous pictorial language. Her task as a painter is to perfectly know how to
combine these elements to obtain particular results: a feeling of calm, energy, and well-
being... In this sense, the mastery of tonalities becomes important, since her canvases
usually focus on a very specific chromatic register, subtly varying the same color.
A single color manifests itself in different ways depending on the amount of black and
white -light and shadow- added to it. Playing with these variations, the artist builds planes
and volumes while densifying the chromatic expressiveness. One of Espinet's
fundamental resources is her knowledge of the psychology of color, which allows her to
deepen the link between color and emotion. Far from being a minimalist exercise on
monochromy, her work requires a delicate palette of resources to weave the character of
each canvas. The viewer perceives a highly elaborated visual experience, although
subjectivity always comes into play.
Mariona Espinet, artist (1987). The influence of architecture in the works of Mariona Espinet is very clear; depth, movement, perspective, contrast, color and harmony. His works accept various interpretations depending on the point of view from which we observe them and he seeks the game of the viewer's gaze. With the collection “Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth”, the artist shows that each person sees and enjoys their own reality, all of which are correct, and therein lies the beauty of the art that she wants to convey. This depth is generated by blocks of colors combined with each other harmoniously, thus achieving a balanced figure. The main objective of his works is to generate an emotional impact in the space and a conversation with those who inhabit it. Colors have their own soul and they transmit a feeling to us, they generate a direct connection with our environment and our inner life: the soul.
