This abstract acrylic painting inspired by nature was created by Otto Rogers.
Renowned internationally as a masterful abstract artist, Otto Rogers distinctive aesthetic often combined geometric passages with forms found in nature—a leaf pattern in this painting. Single leaves appear to float around the canvas in a dynamic composition. Layers of acrylic paint in an earthy palette of grays, deep blue, and moss green punctuated by white and black create a subtle texture.

Otto Rogers (1935-2019) acquired his MA in Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin and later taught at the University of Saskatchewan for 29 years. He also participated in the Emma Lake Workshops in BC which attracted some of North America’s finest artists. Rogers’ work is held privately and publicly in more than 30 collections including the Art Gallery of Ontario, the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Museu d'art contemporain de Barcelona, and the National Gallery of Iceland. In 2007, a published book of his work Otto Donald Rogers, included a foreword by the British sculptor Sir Anthony Caro.

Otto Rogers
Otto Rogers, depicts a geometric landscape using neutral colour tones. Rogers was born in 1935 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. He attended the Saskatchewan Teachers College (1954) and received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education (1958) and a Masters in Fine Art (1959) from the University of Wisconsin. As Professor and Head of the Department of Art at the University of Saskatchewan (1959–88), Rogers helped revive the Emma Lake Artist Workshops, Saskatchewan (1971–87). From 1988–98, Rogers lived in Haifa, Israel, where he served two five-year terms as a Counselor member of the International Teaching Center at the World Centre for the Baháʼí Faith. Following those years, he lived and worked in Prince Edward County, Ontario until his passing in late April 2019. Rogers' works are found in over 1600 major public, corporate and private collections in North America, Asia and Europe including Art Gallery of Ontario, Edmonton Art Gallery, Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatoon; Montreal Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona Spain; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the National Gallery of Canada; Bank of Montreal; General Foods and Scotiabank.
