Patricia Crotty’s “Open Window” is a brightly colored 18 x 18 inch abstract oil painting on canvas. Vibrant gestural strokes of yellow, red, pink, blue, and green float and form shapes on a more muted background of lighter blues and grays. The painting evokes clouds passing in the sky and branches waving, a glimpse of nature’s changing states, its interconnected parts coming together to form a harmonious whole. Finished with an artist-made 18.5 x 18.5 x 1.25 inch frame of thin wood strips.
Patricia Crotty’s colorful gestural paintings are inspired by nature and the hidden forces that lie beneath everyday experience. Her work reflects the tension between chaos and order, fluidity and form, reflecting the natural world’s unpredictability and underlying design.
