"Ravel III" combines Cahill's signature color-changing line on a crisp, white background. This painting is signed on the back. It comes complete with all necessary hardware and is ready to install. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Cahill pursued an education in the arts after relocating to the Philadelphia area. She studied the figure for many years before transitioning to complex, abstract paintings. Her paintings are exhibited in the U.S. and have garnered regional awards including "Best of Show" in the "Celebration of Life" exhibit at the Perelman Center, and honorable mentions at Goggleworks and the Abington Art Center. Cahill's paintings are held in private, public, and corporate collections including Temple University, Capital One, and PNC Bank Corporation. Her studio is located in Philadelphia, PA.

Paula Cahill
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Paula Cahill relocated to the Northeast where she received merit and academic scholarships while pursuing an education in the arts. She holds an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and a BFA from Tyler School of Art and Architecture. She also studied at the Art Students League of New York and Parsons School of Design.
Cahill has served as an undergraduate critic and speaker at Temple University, and as a visiting artist at the Westtown School in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Her award-winning work has been exhibited extensively in solo and group shows throughout the Northeast and has garnered regional awards including "Best of Show" in the "Celebration of Life" exhibit at the Perelman Center, and honorable mentions at Goggleworks and the Abington Art Center. Cahill's paintings are held in private, public, and corporate collections including Temple University, Capital One, and PNC Bank Corporation.

The themes visited in this show stem from a desire to extend the vocabulary of my painting while forming a metaphor for the chaos of contemporary life.
The title, Escalade, has differing and complimentary functions in English and French. Continuing to paint, over a lengthening career, the medium poses more questions than answers. The title is a reference to my attempt to overcome these difficulties through the expansion of my painting language. The title also refers to the escalation of crises in the world at large. It is the larger picture in which I am a small person trying to make my way.
In a concrete sense, the title also refers to a strategy I have taken in a number of these paintings. That is, to re-examine very small paintings...
