About the Item

Artist Comments
"This diptych illustrates two sides of being alone," explains artist Shyun Song. "Loneliness is depicted as a downcast state when we miss other people, while aloneness is captured as an uplifting state when we enjoy being ourselves and expanding our souls."

About the Artist
Painting is not merely an aesthetic endeavor for Shyun Song, but also an existential one. Her art matches aspects of geometric shapes to express meaning. The starting point of her creation is a definite subject which derives from her intuition and instinct. She then aims to capture the human experience, both positive and negative. Shyun has a habit of mentally editing whatever she sees to her visual satisfaction.
