Steven Rehfeld's 24" x 24" masterpiece is a testament to the versatility of contemporary abstract art. The canvas is alive with a rich mosaic of colors, from the fiery hues of red and orange to the tranquil blues and earthy greens. Intermittent splashes of white and soft pink lend the artwork a gentle luminosity. Rehfeld’s style is notable for its layered complexity, where thick, expressive strokes seamlessly merge with softer, diffused patches. Distinctive elements, such as snippets of newsprint and what appears to be fragments of photographs, are interspersed throughout, adding depth and a tactile quality to the piece. This amalgamation of mixed media forms, including paint, paper, and possibly fabric, culminates in a vivid tapestry of emotion and narrative, inviting viewers to unearth their own interpretations.
Steven is now one of the top emerging artists in the U.S. His works are groundbreaking, bold, and imbued with unflinching disregard for painting conventions. Many works are in collections and museums in the U.S.
Steven is also part of the 'Outsiders' school of art, originating in France in the 19th century. Also known as the Naïve movement, and was comprised of people with no art training at all, who suddenly started to paint. Many of them are from very challenging backgrounds. All they had was talent that had never before been tapped. In no time this movement became a significant art phenomenon and spread all over the world.
His work, however, has branched out past the movement and his use of earth elements renders a basic and raw interpretation of his message.
