About the Item
For many years I focused mainly as a sculptor, building large three dimensional
wall sculptures and taller than life statues. This is why I paint on wood,
because with wood there exists the possibility of using a nail. With a hammer
and nail you can build. So when I’ve more recently been challenged with the
confines of a smaller studio space, I decided to paint in sections.The DIPTYCH
Collection is my way of building something and going big. Of interest to me is
being able to see it’s a diptych instead of one big canvass. A horizon line that
stretches across two surfaces expands the vista. The two sides can be hung
flush or with a space in between or on two separate walls. This changeable
element creates possibility beyond my original vision. In this way the creative
spirit continues.
