A very large mid century modernist abstract composition, painted in oil onto board.
Almost monochrome in its palette, this abstract composition has a focus on mark making. The artist has combined a variety of both loose and more controlled marks, creating interesting angles and shapes that meet and intersect as well as drawing attention to positive and negative space. The painting has a matte texture, giving it a raw and charcoal like quality. The artist has painted in a white border, which draws our eye inwards towards the main composition.
This oil on cradled panel is presented in a gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has a small mark to the left corner as shown, but is in good condition overall.
