Artist Comments
For two years, Wes took a hiatus from painting in order to treat clinical depression. During that time, he used music as an alternate medium to create. After being treated and developing habits for his well-being, Wes has returned to painting with a new light. "Like my previous works, Rayed and Fractured maintains an artistic integrity, but frays into a more poignant direction," Wes says. Simply put, this painting represents to abandon ideological barriers to dance with the Cosmos.
About the Artist
Wes Sumrall began painting at a young age and enjoys observing nature. As he explains, his work involves studying the nature of light by subduing the nuanced color variations instilled. He has been greatly influenced by Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman and Claude Monet. When he's not painting, he enjoys backpacking, going to music venues, working out and spending time with friends.
