Hans GuerinOil landscape with Horse in old master realist style by Hans Guerin, framed
About the Item
The horse portrait, "Trot", is an oil landscape with a beautiful white horse painted by Hans Guerin, a descendent of the founder of the respected Schuler School of Fine Arts which trains students in the methods and techniques of the European Old Masters. Hans Guerin wants viewers to be attracted to his paintings from across the room and hold their attention when they are up close with details and subtle nuances. Most of his art has an intrinsic meaning to him, yet he aims to please the audience with beauty and skill in execution whether or not they interpret its internal significance the way he intended. The beautiful frame is included.

Hans Guerin
HANS GUERIN With his vigorous, tightly rendered style, Hans Guerin’s bold exaggerations of life are presented in an array of genre from still-life, figurative narrative, animal subject, and pure landscape. Mr. Guerin’s eclectic portfolio relates the keen observations of his reality into artwork. Hans’ approach to drawing and oil painting start from the ground up. He stretches and primes his own canvas, grinds his paint from black oil he prepares himself, makes Maroger Medium, and even burns his own charcoal among the many other handcrafted materials he employs. Hans Guerin’s hard work has rewarded him with his acceptance into and awards from some of the most exclusive international, domestic, and online exhibitions and competitions. Guerin’s work has been featured in many magazine articles and blog posts, and books, as well as the catalogs from major exhibitions. Outside of juried exhibitions, original Guerin oils are exhibited in two prestigious galleries: The Dog and Horse Gallery in Charleston, SC, and Marine Arts Gallery in Salem, MA. The lion’s share of Hans’ work can be seen at the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore, MD, where he also works as an instructor and Assistant Director. While born into a family that made him among the sixth consecutive generation of artists in his family, Hans created few serious works of art until after his graduation from Salisbury University in 2000. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Mr. Guerin injected his lust for knowledge and perseverance into full-time studies at the Schuler School of Fine Arts. In the Schuler School tradition, Hans learned a multi-disciplinary approach requiring him to learn the interconnectivity of various fine art media and also to create the most suitable hand made materials for their execution. As an artist and instructor of acclaim, Hans demonstrates the knowledge and discipline taught to him and extends them with artistic experiments in expression, materials, and technique. Artist’s Statement: "Whether I have an idea I want to express, a narrative, or just a good model, set of objects, or scene, I paint to connect myself to the external world with observations of form and color, pushing to create an illusory reality from my subject. My eclectic portfolio is intended to connect viewers of my art with my internal world. I am a diverse, pattern and detail oriented, hyperbolic, and confident artist. I thrive on painting, drawing and sculpting from life, not just to replicate, but to exaggerate values, color intensity, color temperatures, and design. I want the viewers of my artwork to be attracted from across the room and hold their attention when they are up close with details and subtle nuances. While most of my art has an intrinsic meaning to me, I aim to please my audience with beauty and skill in execution whether or not they interpret its internal significance the way I intended." .
