About the Item

Julie Oriet Montana Artist Image Size: 8.5 x 11 Frame Size: 20 x 22 Medium: Watercolor 2009 "Mija's Burro Taxi" Spain Biography Julie Oriet began drawing and painting as a young child in Montana, though she never aspired to a career as an artist. Later while studying physical education at the University of Montana she continued her art studies. Although she was not encouraged by her professors to pursue art she completed her courses of study. After graduation Oriet found a job at a sculptor's studio in Bozeman. She enjoyed the work so much that she stayed for five years and put off her career in teaching. The following five years were spent at a job painting decoys. The artist painted watercolors in her spare time and sold them at local shows. After a few watercolor workshops Oriet began experimenting and painting bigger pieces. She decided to devote herself to painting to see if she could make it in the art world. In 1992 the artist exhibited her work at the C.M. Russell Show in Great Falls, Montana. She sold twelve paintings and signed on with two galleries as a result of the exhibition. Oriet has continued to exhibit every year at the C.M. Russell Show. She now paints in watercolors and often uses pastels for her popular sky-scapes. Oriet's subjects include scenes from her travels in Mexico, Alaska, Italy, Spain, Morocco and Africa. Although she loves to travel, Oriet still finds inspiration at home in the West. She often paints on her backpacking trips close to home and she loves to go down the road to Yellowstone. Source: Art of the West Magazine, May/June 2002

"RIDING AT DAWN" MODERN YET VINTAGE COWGIRL BRILLIANT COLORS
Located in San Antonio, TX
Debra Benditz Texas Artist Image Size: 48 x 36 Medium: Oil "Riding at Dawn" Cowgirl We will only ship in the Continental United State for posted shipping price. Debra Benditz Texas Artist Statement My oil paintings are a vibrant expression of the feminine and the can-do spirit of the Wild American West as embodied by my paternal grandmother and great-grandmother, both award-winning horsewomen. I use saturated colors, often found in nature, to interpret burgeoning growth, beauty and the human form especially of Jennie Pawson and Aeola Huston Mitchell, my cowgirl ancestors. I know these feisty women from stories I heard my father tell and from old photographs showing the time Jennie met Theodore Roosevelt, and another from 1901, when she was named a champion of the Cheyenne, Wyoming Frontier Days. As a child I spent hours on the floor of my grandfather’s music room as Enrico Caruso serenaded me from the Victrola. I gazed in awe at the tall bookcases, art-covered walls and my grandfather’s art nouveau postcard...

"Beasts of Burden" (2023) By Andy Evansen, Original Watercolor Painting
Located in Denver, CO
"Beasts of Burden" (2023) by Andy Evansen is an original handmade watercolor painting on paper that depicts horses resting in the shade alongside a small creek. This piece measures 15 x 22 inches and 21 x 28 inches in its frame. Andy Evansen’s interest in art started in childhood, as he can’t recall a time when he wasn’t drawing. He began painting watercolors in the mid 1990s as a change of pace from his career as a medical illustrator. Choosing a ‘style’ was not difficult, as Andy was always inspired by the watercolor paintings of British artists Trevor Chamberlain, David Curtis...
