About the Item
Goggles Down. A wonderful depiction of horses on the gallop by local animal artist Sophie Harden. Using white oil to pick out where the light hits the subject, Sophie uses small brushstrokes and marks to insinuate the notion of movement.
Inspiration for all of Sophie’s work comes from her deep love of the countryside. As a self-taught artist, Sophie works with a range of methods from quick sketches, to fun vibrant oil paintings. Based in the heart of Oxfordshire, Sophie creates her art from a studio surrounded by wildlife, from the hares living in the garden to the horses and animals on the farm. Sophie’s fluid technique allows movement to flood her paintings, from the explosive energy and grace of horses to the small details that captures a moment in time.
