Lisa Palombo
Lisa Palombo, "Secretariat Tremendous Machine" Blue Horse Race Painting

2022

About the Item

This bold and colorful equine impressionist painting, "Secretariat Tremendous Machine" by artist Lisa Palombo is a 24x18 acrylic painting on canvas. Depicted is racing legend Secretariat running the 1973 Belmont Stakes against a vivid and blue backdrop with jockey Ron Turcotte dressed in Big Red's classic white and blue checkered silks. The muddy track is being kicked up in splotches of colorful paint. The bright vibrant colors capture the movement and exciting energy of thoroughbred horse racing. Secretariat is widely considered to be the greatest racehorse of all time and the most recognizable name in thoroughbred racing. Big Red, as he is most often affectionately referred, became America’s Horse after his historic Triple Crown win in 1973, winning the Belmont Stakes by an unimaginable 31 lengths (in world record time) in what stands today as the single greatest horseracing performance ever. Lisa Palombo is a renowned Contemporary American Impressionist known for her expressive brushwork and fearless use of color. She produces magical florals, still lifes and landscapes in a unique style that is unmistakable and is considered a master of color and the natural form. About the artist: Lisa began her formal art education at the age of nine while spending summers at the acclaimed Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She later graduated from RISD with honors and has been painting professionally for over 30 years. Her awe-inspiring artwork adorns the walls of private collectors and corporate collections worldwide. Lisa’s work has been featured on more than 40 book covers, including several New York Times bestsellers as well as showcased in House & Garden, Art & Antiques Magazine, Southern Living, The Artist’s Magazine, American Art Review and a Columbia Pictures movie, The Bounty Hunter. She is listed in the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C., and the Marquis Who’s Who in American Art. Her paintings are featured in the books The Best of Oil Painting, Exploring Color, The Best of American Oil Artists (Vol. II) and Lisa Palombo: American Impressionist. Lisa is also a member of the American Impressionist Society, Audubon Artists Association, and Oil Painters of America. Her art can also be found in select galleries and in private and corporate collections throughout the U.S.
