The Harbour is an original modern artwork realized in the first decade of the XX Century by the Italian artist Antonio Barrera.
Original oil painting on canvas.
Hand-signed and dated by the artist on the lower right corner: Antonio Barbera 1908.
Very good conditions: craquelé on the upper side.
Fresh artwork on canvas depicting a marine landscape and a harbour. The brush strokes are very bright and give the painting a sense of great calm and serenity. On the right side of the composition, we see a small sailboat and, above all, a very clear and limpid blue sky. This work has been realized by the Italian artist and painter Antonio Barrera (Rome, 1889 - Rome, 1970). Barrera was one of Pietro Gaudenzi's pupils and, in 1925, he exhibited his first works at the Society of Fine Arts Amateurs of Rome. Since 1917, he participated in all the exhibitions held in Rome, Venice, Milan, Naples, Barcelona, Madrid, Baltimore, Paris etc. Some of his works can be found in the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, the Civic Museum of Turin, the National Museum of Malta and in important private collections. He painted portraits of the sovereigns for the Senate Presidency Council Room. In 1929, in Barcelona, he obtained the honorary medal. His current artistic trend and the modernity of his works are focused on a particular architectural and design sense, in which his acute pictorial sensitivity is controlled.
