About Artist
Oluwatobiloba Amusan was born in Otta, Ogun State, Nigeria. He is the first of the three boys of his parents. He was raised in Dopemu, Lagos State, Nigeria. In the year 2007, he proceeded to the prestigious Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos State, where he obtained both his National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Fine Art with a major in Painting.
Immediately after his National Youth Service in the year 2014, he worked with Access Bank Plc as an administrative staff. He, however, resigned in the year 2016 to fully practice his career as an Artist. His art has always been driven by two major genres of Fine Art-- Photography and Painting.
In the year 2016, he emerged 1st runner-up at the Lagos Photo and Etisalat Photo Competition.
His work was also shortlisted at the Fashola Photography Award in the year 2019, and his body of work, titled Man and Nature, was reviewed by Lensculture. In the year 2021, he was appointed to work as a Photography Lecturer at the Redeemer's College of Technology and Management, Mowe, Ogun State.
He has worked on major projects for several companies, e.g., MANTRAC, BLACKCOD, GEMONAWEST, DELTA EQUIPMENT, DGS, SLOT, etc., both in Painting and Photography. His artistic language is conceptual and contemporary, with a reflection of both human figures and semi-abstract forms mixed with tones of colors and scribbled patterns.
The works of Artists like Victor Ekpuk and Victor Ehikhamenor have been a major influence on his style. He mostly uses acrylic and ink on canvas and paper to achieve his work. His body of work depicts emotions, cultural values, and attitude development.
He currently practices his art at his residence in Lagos, where he lives with his lovely wife and two daughters.
