Potrebbe trattarsi dell'episodio biblico del pentimento di re Davide davanti al profeta Natan, che gli ha aperto gli occhi sul suo peccato di concubinato con Betsabea e di omicidio del marito Uria, e gli assicura poi il perdono del Signore.
Restaurato e ritelato, il dipinto è presentato in cornice in stile, composta con elementi antichi, con diverse mancanze.
