About the Item

"A Time To Remember" is a framed contemporary oil on canvas painting by Amy Donaldson featuring a vibrant, abstract impression of a water garden, reminiscent of Monet’s water lilies but rendered with a more expressive, modern flair. Bold brushstrokes and a rich palette of blues, greens, purples, and yellows create a dynamic sense of depth and movement, evoking the play of light and reflections on the surface of a pond. This piece is finished in a silver scoop floater frame with taupe/natural woodgrain sides. Pricing includes the pictured frame. Unframed dimensions are 40 x 60 inches. Amy Donaldson creates landscape paintings in a personal style that combines visual and visceral elements of her experiences of the world. Engaging with the world around her gives Donaldson a deeply personal feeling for humanity, which accounts for the wide range of subjects and rich textures present in her work. Extensive travel to places as disparate as earthquake-ravaged Haiti to art-world cities such as Berlin and New York inform and inspire her process. As a native of Florida, where she also currently lives and works, Donaldson uses imagery of her home state frequently and cites it as one of her favorite subjects. These Florida paintings burst with joy and the bright light of a sparkling Atlantic morning. Donaldson has attained a signature style that embodies both a sense of immediacy and freshness. Evident in each restless, vibrant composition is Donaldson’s strong sense of color and feeling for light and space. Using tools other than traditional brushes, she attacks the surface of the canvas in a direct approach which is both additive and subtractive. On her painting process she says, “In my college painting classes, my painting professor used to always say that he knew I was in class because he could literally hear me painting. You see, I have a tendency to dig my brushes into the surface of the canvas, a sensation and sound I quite enjoy.”

Oil and Wax Painting by New York Contemporary Artist Sandrine Kern 'Untitled 55'
By Sandrine Kern
Located in White Plains, NY
Available at Madelyn Jordon Fine Art. 'Blue' by New York City based, French artist Sandrine Kern. 2025. Oil and cold wax on canvas, 40 x 50 in. This abstracted landscape painting features a pond scene in colors of blue, green, and white. Sandrine Kern's water lillies is a joyful, gestural interpretation of a tranquil pond adorned with water lilies. A separate and beloved series from previous works, the lyrical brush strokes and dramatic color palettes are freer and more figurative. Kern's practice combines oil sticks, oil paint, and cold wax to create a creamy, rich surface with subtle textured layers to portray the large-scale, zoomed-in water scenes. Sandrine Kern was born in Paris, France where she received an MFA from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts. Her work has been shown nationally in solo shows at Madelyn Jordon Fine Art, OK Harris - New York, Thomas Paul Fine Art - Los Angeles, Gail Harvey Gallery - Santa Monica. She has also been shown at the San Francisco Art Fair, Dallas Art Fair, Chicago Art Fair, ART MRKT San Francisco, Art Miami, Toronto Art Fair, and other national and international art fairs. Kern was elected for membership of the Fondation Taylor in Paris, France in June 2016. Her work has been featured in New York Arts Magazine April 2003, OK Harris Randem Publishing, Wabi-Sabi Painting...
