The Wasdale Head Inn, formerly the Wastwater Hotel, has a rich history dating back to at least 1860 and is deeply intertwined with the history of British rock climbing. It's a landmark at the head of Wasdale valley, known for its spectacular scenery and as a popular base for climbers and walkers.
Wasdale Head is widely considered the birthplace of British climbing, and the Wasdale Head Inn played a key role in its early development. The inn's history and connection to early climbing pioneers have made it a significant landmark in the Lake District.
William Wordsworth and other literary figures like Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Charles Dickens were regular patrons. Wordsworth in particular was deeply connected to the area and its landscape, which greatly inspired his poetry.

Tower Bridge Ripples was inspired by a late afternoon trip to Bermondsey. From there Tower Bridge looked hazy in contrast to the bright sparkling light on The Thames. The painting was created using textured acrylic medium. Oil paint was then applied in layers to define and illuminate the image.
