About the Item

Painting of the Wasdale Head Inn in Lake District England by Leading Contemporary British Artist, Angela Wakefield. Art measures 20 x 12 inches Frame measures 24.5 x 16.5 inches The Wasdale Head Inn, formerly the Wastwater Hotel, has a rich history dating back to at least 1860 and is deeply intertwined with the history of British rock climbing. It's a landmark at the head of Wasdale valley, known for its spectacular scenery and as a popular base for climbers and walkers. Wasdale Head is widely considered the birthplace of British climbing, and the Wasdale Head Inn played a key role in its early development. The inn's history and connection to early climbing pioneers have made it a significant landmark in the Lake District. William Wordsworth and other literary figures like Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Charles Dickens were regular patrons. Wordsworth in particular was deeply connected to the area and its landscape, which greatly inspired his poetry. Angela Wakefield has twice been on the front cover of ‘Art of England’ and featured in ARTnews, attracting international attention and critical acclaim with her urban landscape paintings of New York, London & the North of England. The style of painting has been described as ‘contemporary realism’, and is often favourably compared with Edward Hopper by collectors and art critics. Angela’s work is held in private collections in Europe and the USA, including the British Royal Family. Her admirers include leading figures in international business, filmmaking and the media. PROVENANCE: Ascot Studios Collection. Initialled on the front of the canvas, signed on rear. This original artwork includes a certificate of authenticity from the artist (or signed by the artist). The piece will be stamped from Ascot Studios on its verso.

Colourful Abstract Landscape Painting of the Scottish Highlands by Leading Contemporary British Artist, Angela Wakefield Art measures 24 x 24 inches Frame measure 29 x 29 inches This vibrant painting beautifully captures the dramatic beauty of the Scottish Highlands, featuring a striking mountain range bathed in golden sunlight.
