Condition: As is normal with unframed works on paper there are some minor old creases or paper edge curls/ tears - all of which should be covered over or smoothed out once framed; generally very good and sound.
Provenance: as with all the works we have by this artist, it has come from the artists estate in France.
Description: In this sunlit watercolour, Anne Marie Migette Perard beautifully captures the coastal charm of Agrigento, a historic city perched along Sicily’s southern coast. Known for its stunning views over the Mediterranean and rich architectural legacy, Agrigento is most famous for the nearby Valley of the Temples—but here, Perard shifts focus to the city’s colourful rooftops, coastal streets, and sea-drenched horizon.
Painted in soft washes of rose, terracotta, ochre, and pale sea blue, the composition presents an elevated view over the town. The foreground is defined by a series of elegant buildings—including one in deep red with arched windows and decorative trim—while a winding coastal road lined with trees guides the eye toward the distant hills and gentle curve of the sea.
