About the Item

The Old Market Place by Anthony Avery (British 1946-2023) * see notes below original watercolor on artists paper, unframed paper dimensions: 11 x 15 inches condition: very good and ready to be enjoyed. provenance: from a large collection of this artists work, held in England. Anthony Avery (1946-2023) was a brilliant artist, who lived in the English town of Malvern, close to the Welsh border. His sheer range and versatility of expression and handling of paint is breath taking and one of the many reasons his paintings are admired in worldwide collections today. Described as a "painters painter"", his brushwork and use of color was captivating - capturing a spontaneous moment in time often with brilliant use of dappled light, in the traditional Impressionist technique of the earlier masters such as Monet and Renoir. His work engages with the viewer, drawing them into his landscapes and snapshots of time, as though one is walking through the landscape as the artist uses his brush. We are delighted to offer this large collection of original paintings to you and hope you admire, enjoy and cherish them as much as we and many other collectors around the world continue to do so.
