Description: This richly detailed watercolour captures a sun-drenched view of Walberswick, a small coastal village on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, beloved by generations of British artists and holidaymakers. Painted by Tony Herbert, a master of location-based watercolour, the scene shows weathered timber cottages, rough fishing huts, and a winding sandy track flanked by beach grasses, low vegetation, and patches of coiled netting.
A figure walks in the distance while others stand along the grass verge — small touches of human presence that bring warmth and narrative to the otherwise still landscape. To the right, the foreground is dominated by a large grey wooden shack or shed, its shadowy form offset by subtle textures of peeling paint and tangled fishing gear — nods to Walberswick’s working maritime history.
