I intuitively paint each of my paintings based on my mood of the day or at that moment. I never know what I am going to create until I see the end result. Sometimes it is a colorful, jumbled mess. Or, I create bright and vibrant landscapes full of wildflowers or flowing waters. I appreciate the beauty of whatever happens as I did not know what I was going to create before I start.

Always knowing she would be an artist, Betty Efferson, participated in art workshops and actively served in arts organizations while running a business with her husband and raising their two children. Living most of her life in Baton Rouge, LA, Betty has recently retired, and now enjoys the opportunity to paint every day. Betty is an accomplished realistic and impressionistic artist who has been recognized with national and international awards. She has been juried into shows from New York to New Mexico, and is a Pastel Society of America Signature Member and Degas Pastel Society Member. She draws inspiration from the power of nature, daily life and the beauty that surrounds us. Betty’s art captures and expresses feelings through unencumbered use of color, technique and media. She offers the viewer the invitation to travel through the artwork, to enjoy the power and energy or sweetness and shyness of the work, with the viewer’s choosing to find their own expression of feelings.
