About the Item
"Glacier" - Part of the Tierra Del Fuego archipelago off the southernmost tip of the South American mainland. The islands adjoin both Argentina and Chile.
The beauty and serenity of the terrain surpasses anything the imagination could conjure or words could capture.
Artist Carole Garland does evoke the magnificent grandeur of this mountainous region, a glacier lake reflects a fading sunset, as an intrepid hiker makes
her way along an icy trail. Per the artist, who traveled with a tour group, nothing was said about the melting of the glaciers or climate change. It would
appear it was a too politically charged topic for a tour guide to tackle.
The 30"x40" oil painting on canvas is gallery wrapped with painted sides harmonizing with the painting. It has been wired for ease of hanging.
Carole Garland studied art at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois; the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of the Americas, Mexico City.
She studied landscape painting with plein air artists Frank Serrano, Jeff Horn and Calvin Liang and did numerous international workshops with
Linda Jacobson. Her latest influence is fine artist and teacher David Gallup, former vice president of the California Art Club.
Garland has shown in numerous venues throughout Southern California and is in art collections across the United States.

By Linda Jacobson
Located in Palm Desert, CA
The Mountainscape series has been inspired by Jacobsons stay in the Alpes-Maritime in a small medieval village, Fanghetto, on the Italian/French border. The colors are soft, flowing and ethereal, creating a feeling of harmony, and a sanctuary for healing. Jacobson creates her paintings with many layers of acrylic paint on canvas, giving her work a luminous and translucent quality. The pastel colors and flowing compositional elements express the spiritual essence of nature. Mountainscape #4 is a mixed-media painting of oil paint over acrylic washes on gallery wrapped linen canvas. Linda Jacobson's paintings are lyrical abstractions inspired by her love of landscape and its elements: form, movement, light, and what she perceives to be its essence an energy or quality that goes beyond visual appearance. Born in Los Angeles, she received her BFA from California State College, Northridge, and graduated Summa cum Laude from the prestigious Art Center College of Design where she was mentored by pioneer California modernist Lorser Feitelson. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States and abroad, including MRG Fine Art, in Los Angeles; Gallerie Rohling, Berlin, Germany; California State University Channel Islands in Ventura; Karpeles Museum in Santa Barbara, California; BG Gallery in Santa Monica; George Lawson...

Rock On
By Carole Garland
Located in Palm Desert, CA
The movement of water, the changing reflections, leaves floating across the surface, the angle of golden light...
The artist Carole Garland conveys the childlike wonder and awe she feels as she gazes down at a stream in the woods. The rocks are solid and still as the light begins to fade and different shadows appear. Garland attempts to interpret in her work the calm and serenity evoked by nature. There is a spiritual aspect to her embrace of the natural world.

Reflections
By Carole Garland
Located in Palm Desert, CA
Carole Garland painted outdoors in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California so often that she felt at home creekside or in a wooden glen. In her “Reflection” series, the abstract forms of reflected branches and tree trunks share the composition with solid rocks and trailing leaves. Her use of color is fresh and inspired.

MOUNTAINSCAPE contemporary landscape with mountains
By Linda Jacobson
Located in Palm Desert, CA
The moon shining in a luminous blue night illuminates two trees in a flowing, lyrical and sinewy relationship. The interpretive landscape has a dream-like quality and is inspired by a landscape Jacobson encountered in North Yorkshire, England. Jacobson creates her paintings with many layers of acrylic paint on canvas, giving her work a luminous and translucent quality. The vivid, saturated, jewel-like colors and strong compositional elements express the spiritual essence of nature. On gallery wrapped canvas. Linda Jacobson's paintings are lyrical abstractions inspired by her love of landscape and its elements: form, movement, light, and what she perceives to be its essence an energy or quality that goes beyond visual appearance.
