About the Item
Nineteenth Century Victorian Dutch River and Harbour Scene with Boats, Windmills and Buildings in background. A Signed Oil Painting on Wooden Panel that is Framed in original ornate Frame. This is one of a pair of Paintings (can be sold separately). They have been in a London collection for around 60 years and have come to me as the estate was cleared.
Eduard J Van Hoorn was painting in the latter half of the Nineteenth Century and the early Twentieth Century, he is known for his Marine Paintings and Genre Paintings too. They are each painted in the traditional Dutch Style of Painting and Van Hoorn shows a competent style and eye for composition. The frames are large and decorative and overall a fine pair of paintings.
