About the Item

Title: Impressionist Still Life Oil Painting of Wildflowers in Vase with Pastel Colours By Fanch Lel Size: 18.25 x 15 inches (height x width) Oil painting on board, unframed Condition: The painting is in good condition with expressive texture throughout; minor surface wear and edge scuffing present. Provenance: All the paintings we have for sale by this artist have come from the artists estate and have had no previous owners at all. Description: This vibrant and expressive oil on board depicts a vase of freshly gathered flowers in full bloom, rendered in a charming French impressionist style. The composition features a blue glass vase holding an informal bouquet of pink, white, and violet daisies or asters, their delicate petals animated by bold, energetic brushwork and an impasto surface that radiates texture and depth. The background is a rich tapestry of pastel tones—peach, lilac, sky blue, and soft gold—loosely blended to create a dreamy, abstract setting that places full focus on the floral arrangement. The flowers themselves are loosely defined yet bursting with character, their organic shapes set against the luminous backdrop, evoking both spontaneity and serenity. Still life flower paintings have long been a hallmark of French impressionism, with artists like Manet and Fantin-Latour popularising the genre. This interpretation stands apart through its textured approach and expressive colourwork, bringing a contemporary softness to a timeless subject. The floral subject and scale make it ideal for intimate interiors, whether displayed as part of a gallery wall or as a single feature in a reading nook or hallway. This piece would appeal to collectors who admire painterly technique, romantic palettes, or seasonal interiors—perfect for spring and summer styling with a hint of rustic French charm.

Oil painting on canvas, unframed 32 x 27 inches This still life oil painting of a bouquet of vibrant lilies, roses and irises was painted by Hudson Valley-based artist Dale Payson. The range of canary and pastel yellows, emerald green, beige and burnt umber hues that span the canvas are complimented by Payson's skillfully executed impasto technique. Payson captures the essence of her subject matter and abstracts it in the same stroke, rendering each painting somewhere between representation and interpretation. About the artist: Payson studied extensively at the School of Visual Arts in New York and eventually taught at this prestigious institution. Before painting became her sole ambition, she was a freelance book illustrator and has more than 25 books to her credit. Dale Payson also studied under Robert...
