ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Francesc d'Assís Casademont i Pou (Barcelona, November 14, 1923 – Girona, August 10, 2007), artistically known as Casademont "Le Vieux", was a Catalan painter trained at the Escola de la Llotja in Barcelona and a member of the Cercle Maillol, where he shared ties with notable figures such as Joaquim Mir and Josep Maria Sucre.
Throughout his career, he exhibited internationally and lived in cities like Paris, where he shared a home with painter Xavier Valls. He was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi and the Gold Medal of the Ville de Vichy, and was a member of the Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi.
His style is marked by a soft color palette, serene compositions, and a refined pictorial language. His Mediterranean landscapes invite contemplation, steering away from conventional realism.
