About the Item

After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts, Arends steadily developed his very special gift for detailed painting. He became fascinated with the Dutch Masters of the 19th Century. Far horizons, magnificent skylines, the sunset on transparent ice, in short ,the typical Dutch landscape is characteristic in his work. He strikingly paints the atmosphere of the past in an unique and masterful technique. Arends calls himself a modern painter according to traditional methods. In his minute finished paintings we recognize indeed the stroke of a very talented artist. Beside his summer- and winter views, he also paints town- and seascapes. Very special are also his romantic poultry scenes. The work of this romantic ‘painter of light’ is exclusively displayed in the ‘De Schildercamer’ in Amsterdam.
