Artist Name: George Rombach (Original Artwork - Listed Artist) Dates: Unknown - Most likely Mid-20th Century; Seems to have a date to the right of the signature, but cannot make it out. Signature/Date/Other: Lower right hand corner (Geo Rombach) - Wonderful Fancy Signature! Nationality: Possibly Belgian Subject or Title: A beautiful day with blue sky/white clouds in an open field with trees and a haystack Size/Sight: 17-3/4 x 19-3/4 inches Frame: 21x23 inches - Nice older frame, some slight damage as seen in photos Media: Oil on wood (appears to have been primed) Condition: Good. A cleaning would brighten it a bit, but not necessary. Seems to have 3-4 relatively small chips of paint loss as seen in photos. One can easily do a watercolor touch-up of these small areas to match the surrounding area and it will not be noticeable, and because it is watercolor, can easily be removed at any time. Comments/Other: A very nice piece of a haystack in a green pasture with trees in the background, on a sunny day with a blue sky and puffy white clouds - an idealistic scene! A bright scene when illuminated. On the back is "Belgium". The signature is one of most interesting signatures we have encountered over the years. The signature consists of a very fancy G surrounding the last name and "eo" to the far right. The last name is surrounded by the fancy G. The signature is really wonderful! We wanted verification of the signature to insure we were interpreting it correctly, and contacted a well known auction house which indicated that it was a "Rombach" with an high auction value of about $2000 in 2012. Could have higher auction values since that timeframe.
