Ger Stallenberg was born in Maastricht in 1959. From 1974–79, he studied at the Academy for visual arts in Tilburg. He is inspired by symbolism and Art Nouveau from around 1900. In his art, a supernatural dimension and a great love for nature can be seen. A certain stylization, color palette and atmospheric light make everything one unit. This can all be found in his paintings in a contemporary way. Stallenberg remains so close to reality that fantasy worlds are avoided. The wonder of nature and life is always the subject of his paintings. The landscapes are very realistically designed, the depth, the colors, plants, trees and vistas seem to exist. Stallenberg's technique, which only becomes visible after the work has been viewed a second time, is unique. With an eye for detail and an elaborate layer over layer of technology, Stallenberg tries to evoke an image that represents the mystery of existence. The more you look the more you see. The work offers the viewer every opportunity to dream away to evoke its atmosphere. The particularly refined fabric expression and clear use of color give the work of Stallenberg an enormous expressiveness that can be called timeless. The formats of the landscapes certainly participate in the expressiveness that the work has. Panoramic or square, small or large, there is always the tranquil beauty.
