About the Item
Mario is a unique painting by contemporary artist Guillaume Chansarel. The painting is made with ink and acrylic on old book pages mounted on canvas, dimensions are 65 × 92 cm (25.6 × 36.2 in).
The artwork is signed, sold unframed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Guillaume Chansarel uses the urban framework as a central element in his artistic production. Architecture is a core element in his paintings, he is interested in its graphical representation and through the construction of perspective he invites the viewer to travel, from brand new perspectives, into the heart of international megalopolis. Through his compositions, the painter aims to capture the soul and the spirit of a place. Guillaume Chansarel catches the essence of a city and depicts an atmosphere on the canvas by immortalizing a single street corner.
The uniqueness of the artist’s work lies in the realistic aspect of his work but also on the original use of an innovative support: pages of print from antique books onto which he draws and then paints, and consequently which tells a completely new story.

Guillaume Chansarel (Guiyome)
Through his compositions, Guillaume Chansarel aims to capture the soul and the spirit of a place. He catches the essence of a city and depicts an atmosphere on the canvas by immortalizing a single street corner. He is interested in Architecture, but also in its graphical representation, in the constructions of perspective and how perspective can deepen an architectural subject. The originality of Guillaume Chansarel’s work also derives from his use of pages from old books as a raw material for his paintings. At first used at random, this painting medium is now a distinctive element of his work. “I especially enjoy working on mega-cities. I like the idea that the city totally overtakes me, thinking it has been there for a long time, it was there and it’s still growing.“
