Stunning and very large French Post-Impressionist oil painting depicting this beautifully colourful view of a church - bursting with vibrant "fauvist" colours that surely were inspired by Matisse. Beautifully thick impasto paint and wide brushwork.
The work is by the contemporary French artist, Jean-Marie Deroche (born 1956) who is well represented in many prestigious galleries throughout France and commands serious sums.The painting is signed and titled verso, as well as being dated 1986.
The painting is oil on canvas - unframed - and in good condition (there are some old creases to the canvas). It measures 23.5 x 23.5 inches.
