About the Item

Across the Marsh, an original, signed Oil Landscape Painting on canvas by John D. Neubauer captures the ethereal stillness of an evening moonrise on the horizon of a lush green marsh against golden sky reflecting on a winding river, whose movement and composition continues into moody steel clouds. Tonalism in style with warm, misty hues of soft greens, gauzy yellows and steely grays, playing upon the natural and spiritual realms. Artwork measures 8 x 16 inches, gold leaf gilded frame measures 12.75 x 20.75 inches. Although his foundation is based on Realism, Neubauer's paintings force the viewer to look within and contemplate a deeper meaning. It is this personal exploration of the spiritual and the connection with a higher power that has become Neubauer's challenge and goal to achieve as a contemporary artist. His landscapes are distilled impressions of his intimate view; a captured moment that is not based on time, and of a place where time stands still. The paintings of John Daniel Neubauer are infused with the timeless beauty and personal inspiration. Neubauer began his study of the painted landscape under the tutelage of Donald Jurney. Thereafter, he attended the Art Students League in New York, where he was trained by such highly respected artists as the late Robert Beverly Hale and David Leffel. After completing his classical training, Neubauer began an intensive study of the landscape; painting directly from nature throughout the northeastern United States and in Italy. The realistic traditions of the Hudson River and French Barbizon Schools are evident in Neubauer's work, as well as the influence of the renowned painters Turner, Corot, and Inness. It is Neubauer's hope that in the future his work will be viewed as a strong contribution to the genre of Classical Realism which is making a resurgence at this time in history.
