About the Item
Known for it's timeless charm, the quaint Cotswolds of England are what dreams are made of. This original impressionist English landscape exemplifies the warm and inviting feeling of the Cotswolds region of England, resplendent with aging shrubs, thatch roofed buildings that the region is known for, and grazing sheep. Painted by legendary artist John Phillip Osborne, an impressionist master, Osborne focuses on the accuracy of light as well as imagery and has also applied many of the principles of the Barbizon school of art painters into the work as well. The leading instructor of the highly regarded Ridgewood Art Institute of New Jersey for more than thirty four years, Osborne taught a generation of his students to go beyond the obvious in portraying their subject matter in a composition striving to capture the genuine overall feeling of the moment. He had graduated with honors from Pratt Institute of NYC and then continued his studies at the Art Students League, also of NYC. Original Osborne oil paintings have been exhibited in United States Embassies in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America as well as in coveted venues across the United States. A recipient of numerous awards, Osborne's highest personal honor was the "Artist in Special Tribute" and the "Gold Medal of Honor" presented to him by the Hudson Valley Art Association. This original landscape is framed in a new custom made antique gold frame which highlights the bursts of light in the imagery.
