John Stevens, using subtle washes of oil paint, slowly builds his highly detailed paintings of sea battle scenes and rolling sails.
He took inspiration for his paintings from Master Tim Thompson, a contemporary British marine painter.
"Color and movement are vital components in my work," said the Artist. "It is important that I see exactly how a yacht's sails form when it is rounding a buoy or what the ocean looks like during a storm." .
