Description of the Artwork Alineació, París is an evocative depiction of a deserted Parisian terrace, with rows of tables and chairs aligned in an almost infinite perspective. Created in the 1990s, this work reflects the artist's fascination with urban scenes characterized by order and geometric harmony. The use of cool tones and soft morning light conveys a sense of serenity and stillness, as if the day is just beginning. The loose yet detailed brushstrokes suggest the texture of the chairs and the pavement, while the blurred background adds depth and an ethereal atmosphere. This painting is a fine example of contemporary Neo-Impressionism, where realism blends with a subjective artistic interpretation of light and space. Biography of the Artist Josep Maria Vayreda Canadell (Olot, 1932 – Girona, 2001) was a prominent Spanish painter, celebrated for his focus on urban landscapes, seascapes, and scenes of everyday life. Coming from a family with a strong artistic tradition, he was the grandson of Marian Vayreda Vila and a relative of Joaquim Vayreda, founder of the Olot School of Landscape Painting. Vayreda Canadell began his artistic training at the Olot School of Fine Arts. Although he initially pursued a law degree at the University of Barcelona, he abandoned it to fully dedicate himself to painting. In 1958, he held his first exhibition at the Sala Jardín in Barcelona, marking the beginning of his artistic career. Between 1960 and 1966, he lived in Paris, where he attended the École des Beaux-Arts and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. He participated in numerous group exhibitions during his time in Paris, which had a profound influence on his style, adding an international dimension to his work. Later, he traveled to the United States, exhibiting in cities such as New York and Philadelphia, further establishing himself as a renowned artist. Although closely linked to the Olot School tradition, Vayreda Canadell developed a unique style characterized by a free interpretation of landscapes and a focus on geometric forms, light, and atmosphere. His urban and seascape paintings, particularly those of Cadaqués and Paris, are especially recognized for their balance between detail and an ethereal ambiance. He passed away in Girona in 2001, leaving behind a rich artistic legacy that reflects his poetic vision of landscapes and everyday scenes. Similar Artists Joaquín Sorolla (1863-1923): Renowned for his mastery of light and depiction of everyday scenes. "Boulevard of Paris", 20th Century oil on canvas by Spanish artist E. Grau Sala
By Emilio Grau Sala
Located in Madrid, ES
EMILIO GRAU SALA Spanish, 1911 - 1975 BOULEVARD OF PARIS signed Grau Sala (lower right) oil on canvas 25-1/2 X 32 inches (65 X 81 cm.) framed: 36-1/4 X 42-1/2 inches (92 X 108 cm.) PROVENANCE Sale: Sotheby´s Olympia London, 20 October 2006 Emilio Grau Sala came from a family of artists. He was born in Barcelona in 1911 and his father, a good cartoonist, had been one of the promoters of the "Salon des Humanistes" and made his exhibitions normally in the Parés Hall. His first works were exhibited at the Salon des Independents, in the years 1930-33. Grau Sala was essentially a Mediterranean painter, son of post-impressionism and enriched with French painting of the last fifty years. In this work Grau Sala has a loose, subtle brushstroke, in which the color shapes the entire work. The bright and transparent whites that give life to young schoolgirls contrast with the brushstrokes of blacks from the nun who accompanies them. The explosion of greens is refreshing, it surrounds us and transports us to an idyllic place, even if it is a citizen boulevard, which becomes friendly and beautiful. His works can be found in the Museums of the Villa de Paris, L'Ile de France Museum, at the Château de Sceaux, Honfleur Museum, La Rochelle Museum, Barcelona Museum, Tossa de Mar...

Paris, rue des Solitaires, oil painting by Pierre Coquet
Located in Montfort l’Amaury, FR
Paris, rue des Solitaires, oil painting by Pierre Coquet Reference number F489 The painting is framed with a natural oak floated frame. 65 x 50 cm (70 x 55 cm frame included) This work is painted with oil on a paper that is laid on a board and placed in a made to measure wood strectcher. It is signed in the low right Paris is one of Pierre most important subjects. Pierre's Paris is always depicted in a grey atmosphere. Buildings are stylized but the city is recognizable with its typical grey galvanised steel and orange terracota chimneys. The composition here is a little atypical, as there is a certain symmetry between the top and bottom of the painting. You could almost turn it upside down, there's a kind of mirror effect. The support for the painting is a cardboard box salvaged from the art school where he taught (Corvisart-Paris). The students used it to protect their tables. Pierre kept them and painted on them, and we can see little drawings or annotations made by students who had fun scribbling on them. Provenance : Workshop of the artist (stamped and numbered on the back) About Pierre : Pierre Coquet (1926-2021) is a French painter who was born in Limas near Lyon, France. He entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Lyon in 1942 and followed the teaching of Antoine Chartres, Henri Vielly and René Chancrin...
