    "Spring Thaw, Maine" is a 17 x 23 inches oil on Masonite winter landscape by American painter DeCourcy Taylor. The snowy Maine landscape is signed and dated in the lower right. Provenance: Private Collection, Carversville, Pennsylvania. DeCourcy Taylor was born in 1930 in New York City and grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. Since then, he has lived in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, and presently resides in Austin, Texas. He received his formal art education at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He has been a painter and a sculptor for over seventy years, working in oil and watercolor mediums. Until 1991, he worked in stone lithography. When he moved to Maine, he donated his press and stones to the Museum School. In 1954, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts purchased one of his three lithographs. He also designed, illustrated, and art directed for Boston advertising agencies and textbook and trade publishers and worked on sculpture for a Boston studio.
