About the Item

The Harbour by Josine Vignon (French 1922-2022) signed oil painting on canvas, unframed canvas: 13 x 18 inches Colors: Blue colors, brown, beige and green Very good condition. Provenance: from the artists estate, France Josine Vignon (1922-2022) was a French artist living on the Rue Beautreillis in the Marais district of Paris. She painted with a beautiful style, largely influenced by the Impressionist and Post Impressionist techniques, but adding her own distinctive style and technique to each painting. Vignon's works carry tremendous energy and enthusiasm, often painted with very thick impasto oil creating a rich and diverse texture, as well as painting with a tremendous palette range of vibrant and joyful colors. She captured her home city of Paris, as well as Provence and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. We consider her one of the most talented and significant 'undiscovered' artists of her time.

In 1979 he was awarded his "authorization and certification" by the Ministry of Arts and Culture in Warsaw. This recognition is the ultimate achievement for Polish artists. During this time period he was invited to exhibit in Switzerland and in England where he had a one-man show. His travels brought him to the United States for a short vacation that has turned into his newfound home. His work was particularly well received in Michigan where he had three one-man shows, two of which were in Grosse Pointe and Harbor Springs...
