A medium sized unique oil painting on stretched canvas, ready to hang. A mystical landscape in different shades of blue, framed with a light blue shadow frame.
As the artist move through a new passage of her life these “Into the Woods” paintings started to emerge. It is an inviting path but it is also scary and ominous. In the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, where she lives, there are trees everywhere and after so many years they have become the sentries that greet her every day. This painting depicts a path in Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town as inspiration.

Karin Hopkinson is a contemporary painter working mainly with oils on canvas. She was born in Helsinki in 1972. She went on to study BA Fine Arts at the University of the Orange Free State in South Africa. Thereafter, she started her career as a Graphic Designer. After moving to Cape Town in 1996 she started her own business and so moved into the Advertising Industry as a Creative Director. After many years of creating and conceptualising for clients, she turned back to her art. Nature is the main inspiration of her work where she portrays nature’s cycles in vibrant colour. She currently lives in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa, with her husband and two teenage kids.
