About the Item

A brisk wind causes a cloud to curl as it unfolds across the sky, darkening the cloudscape overhead, while revealing highlights of the sun in the distance. It is fascinating how the wind’s energy traces the edge of a storm. The natural forces that surround us and shape our lives call to mind the fluctuations of our experience within life’s larger patterns. Kean's layered application of paint and translucent glazes allows for unexpected variations in color and tone that capture various elements from nature's creative chaos. In the process, she gives viewers an opportunity to reconnect with an essential experience of nature and look inward to the dramas of our own minds. This is an original 8 inch by 8 inch oil painting on gallery wrapped linen, stretched on 1 1/2-inch-deep stretchers. It is framed with a simple, black, wood, floating frame with finger friendly wire, ready for installation. As a painter, Katherine Kean seeks moments of breath-taking transition in nature; a gathering of clouds or changing tides; times when the elements of the landscape combine with the alchemy of imagination to illuminate the world of heightened mood and sensation. Her paintings aim to capture these fleeting moments in time and reveal the serene center that can arise in the midst of nature’s turbulence. Katherine Kean has exhibited in museums and galleries across the United States and has been acquired by many private and corporate collections. She has been honored to have her work selected for Bloomingdale's in Santa Monica, California, Schiffer's 100 Artists of the West Coast II, Paint America's Paint the Parks, Manhattan Arts Healing Arts International's Celebrate the Healing Power of Art and the National Weather Center 2015 Biennale. Angeles Forest Storm received award for Best Composition in Landscape “Highways 2 - the Journey and the Destination.“

"TWISTS AND TURNS" BIG SKY CLOUD FORMATION
Located in San Antonio, TX
C.S. Steve Talley Fredericksburg Texas & Santa Fe New Mexico Artist Image Size: 12 x 16 Frame Size: 16 x 20 Medium: Oil "Twists and Turns" C. S. “Steve” Talley developed an art interest not long after graduating with a degree in astronomy/physics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978. Juggling a career in the sciences and ultimately computer programming, his art skills continued to improve by taking workshops from primarily plein air artists. Talley’s style of impressionistic realism continues to evolve as he explores color from bold to tonalist. He takes artistic license to push a color or include a compositional element to accomplish his goal of creating the intangible “strong emotional content”. Beginning as a portrait painter he has evolved to become primarily a western landscape painter. He also enjoys painting astronomical and religious themes. His main influences come from Paul Strisik, Will Sparks...
