About the Item
Sunrise Venezia, a 35x53 original Hudson River School realist interpretation of Venice, Italy, invites you into the heart of one of Europe's most romantic, most famous, most beautiful cities in modern civilization. Perhaps the most celebrated city in Italy as well, Venice is a dreamland, often referred to as Disneyland for adults. Traversing the island by boat--cars are forbidden--through centuries old canals lined by ancient palazzos that are literally sinking into each other thereby forming an alternate Italian marine landscape is tantalizing. Artist and renaissance man, paleontologist and illustrator Larry Felder patiently introduces sublime light and shadows into his strictly realistic, phenomenally detailed composition as the inviting earth tones of the buildings fade into the warm, rich patina of the rising sun, to which the detailed baroque architecture stands proud, representing the grand history that is stands testimony to. Sunrise Venezia entices you to explore whimsically be it to cross a nearby canal on an arched footbridge that's across the piazza while seeking one of the elegantly curved gondolas in hopes of catching a gondolier singing an operatic refrain in the afternoon sun, enjoying an afternoon glass of prosecco in a cafe or praying in one of the treasured cathedrals. Felder began to draw at three proceeding to earn his Bachelors degree in fine art from Montclair State College. His work is included in the private collections of Stevie Nicks, Steve Martin and the estate of Groucho Marx among others. Felder's diverse talent has included placement in "Scientific American," "Earth," "New Jersey Monthly," in the Terrence Malick film starring Brad Pitt "The Tree of Life." The scale of this original oil painting only adds to the mystique; it is 56x44 in the custom baroque Italian carved wooden frame selected by the artist.
