About the Item
A large oil on canvas by noted abstract landscape artist Lawrence Self. Painted circa 1970 this is a fine large oil of an Essex landscape. A superb painting with lovely brushwork and tones. Lawrence Self's works are housed in many Essex galleries.
Signed lower right.
Provenance. Sussex Collection.
Condition. Oil on canvas, Image size 36 inches by 28 inches. In excellent condition.
Housed in a fine gallery frame. Framed size is 42 inches by 36 inches. Excellent condition.
Lawrence Self (1924-2001) was born in Surrey and completed his artistic training at The Royal College of Art. He moved to Suffolk in 1957 and landscape became the predominant theme in his work. He exhibited widely including repeatedly at the R.A. and his work is held in many public and private collections including The Ipswich Museums Collection and the Essex Art Gallery.
