Artist Biography: Manfred H. Kuhnert was born in 1931 outside the cultural capital of Dresden, son of Franz Joseph and Gertrud Kuhnert. His mother, Baroness Gertrud Kob Von Urbensteadt was an accomplished artist and graduate of the prestigious Dresden Academy of Fine Art. Under her guidance, she developed his interest and passion for painting at a young age. Manfred H. Kuhnert is a consummate artist, whose knowledge is solidly grounded in both craft and theory. His complex and intricate sense of color, together with his mastery of line, shape, and form unite to create works that arrest the eye. He is an artist who is intimately connected with the world he paints. His work vividly captures languid days on the California Coast and the serene beauty of The Pacific Ocean which is the inspiration for many of his masterful paintings. His great skill enables him to capture elusive moods in his paintings without sentiment, offering a fresh, delightful view of the world...truly a vision of enchantment. In 1963, Mr. Kuhnert founded his eponymous gallery, The Kuhnert Gallery in Los Angeles, California with his wife of 58 years, Anna Flynn Kuhnert, and exhibited his work at international art exhibitions across the country and abroad. Since 1974, millions of prints based on original works by Manfred H. Kuhnert have been published and distributed in 73 countries across the globe. For 34 years, beginning in 1980, Mr. Kuhnert maintained his studio in Laguna Beach, California. Inspired by the chiseled light of Laguna Beach, his explorations evolved from traditional "veduta" paintings, charmingly documenting local scenes around him, to paintings that seek to release the dynamic energy of this sublime landscape. Since 1994 Mr. Kuhnert has given full voice to expressionistic and ultimately symbolistic works, seeking "harmony in extremis" through complementary color pairings, negative space, and pure forms liberated from a narrative context. Manfred H. Kuhnert truly loved art, rarely taking a moment away. He was a prolific painter, painting in his Laguna Beach studio seven days a week, often without a break, creating thousands of original works throughout his lifetime. Mr. Kuhnert attracted a worldwide fanbase, including collectors from every country across the globe. The artist's daughter, Tara Kuhnert Hotchkis, and daughter-in-law, Carey Hotchkis continue to promote the work and legacy of Manfred H. Kuhnert, sharing his beautiful work with art lovers all over the world. "Thank you for visiting my dad's art, we hope you love it as much as we do!" - Tara Kuhnert Hotchkis

"Summers View" contemporary oil impasto landscape painting w wood floating frame
By Emily Persson
Located in Sag Harbor, NY
"Summers View" is an oil painting of the Australian landscape. Painted with a palette knife, the paint is laid on thick. Three dimensional texture of the paint creates realistic forms via shadow and highlights. A somewhat abstract method of painting creates a contemporary realist depiction of nature. A field of green is intersected by a narrow path. Tree spout upward along the hills edges, and a grand blue scape of water floods the background. Framed in a natural wood, floating frame. See images and video for details. Emily Persson is a Melbourne based artist who has been creating oil paintings with a palette knife for three years. Emily is a multi-generational artist with roots in Brisbane, Australia. Although an avid hobbyist painter her whole life, Emily found her style and her new career in 2016 when she began painting landscape, seascape and floral still-life paintings inspired by her surrounds in Queensland. Emily decided in late 2017 that she would give away a successful corporate office job and pursue her life long dream of becoming a full time artist. She relocated to South Yarra in Melbourne and immediately began exhibiting across Australia at galleries such as the Moree Gallery and Satch & Co. Emily participated in many group exhibitions and fundraisers in 2018 including multiple shows in Melbourne, New South Wales and Queensland. Emily has gained most of her notoriety from her popularity on Instagram where she has close to twelve thousand followers. Emily’s art has trended worldwide on social media and she has become a pioneer and mentor for other artists trying to find their online groove. Emily has drawn the eye of some of Australia’s most sought after interior designers including Thomas Hamel, Nina Provan, Lauren Li and has had her work displayed in some of Australia’s biggest lifestyle magazines including Belle and Country Style. Influenced by master artists such as Frederick McCubbin...
