"Midnight Marvel" - Reverse-Painted Astronomical Art by Dave Archer Detailed and hyper-realistic planetary scene by Dave Archer (American, b. 1941). This piece features several planets of various colors, one of which has a blue glow. In addition to the planets, there are nebulous clouds swirling throughout the scene. Several of the planets have been executed with foil, giving them an iridescent quality. Signed and dated "Dave Archer '87" in the lower right corner (etched into the glass) Tag on verso with artist's signature, title, and explanation of materials. Presented in a black aluminum frame. Dave Archer (born David Archer Nelson January 15, 1941) is a reverse glass painter and sculptor. In his 2002 memoirs, Archer recalls his experiences living and working in North Beach, San Francisco in various capacities, and of the characters he met there. Some were famous and many others, such as Hoyt Axton, Janis Joplin and Steve Martin (who got their starts in San Francisco at the Fox and Hound - later called Coffee and Confusion - where Archer worked) who were up-and-coming and later became famous.
