SELLERS STATEMENT
I have been in the art business as an artist and collector since the early 80's. I'm currently offering select paintings from my collection like this one. In order to collect new paintings, I must sell off some of my current collection.
For art that I have painted, it is derived in a variety of ways. I'm a responder. I respond to light, color, design, etc. and I love painting both outdoors on location and in the studio under a controlled environment. I try to convey an idea, mood or just simply a beautiful setting. I'm inspired by a wide variety of subject matter and styles of painting and do not adhere to just one way.
My paintings have won numerous awards over the years and have been collected both nationally and internationally. They can be found in three museum collections, the White House Collection and many private collections.

Michael Budden
Michael Budden, born in1957, is an artist living and working in his native New Jersey. From 1980 thru 1995 Mr. Budden, concentrated on painting wildlife winning over 100 awards in shows across the country. His unique use of composition, mood and lighting attracted the attention of major art publishers, art magazines and museums throughout the country. Mr. Budden’s paintings can be found in the collections of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wausau, WI; Hiram Blauvelt Wildlife Museum, Oradell, NJ; and the Bennington Center for the Arts, Bennington, VT. As well as many private collections. His art has been featured in magazines like American Art Review, The Artists Magazine, Wildlife Art News, and Midwest Art. Around 1989 Mike became dissatisfied with just the studio approach to painting and he started painting “en plein air”. “Painting outdoors direct from nature”, the artist states, “my painting on location is based on painting from my heart about what I see and how I respond to what I see. An artist learns more about value, color, and making decisions when painting direct from nature plus there is something freeing out there. When I was younger, I discovered the art of Monet and loved it, so I tried painting outdoors and enjoyed the struggle and progress I made with each new attempt. Although I still do a lot of studio painting, I have returned to this pure reaction approach to the beautiful stimuli I encounter everyday hopefully with a learned eye and honed skills. Some of these plein airs are sold as is and others are translated into larger studio works. Mr. Budden graduated with degrees in art from Mercer County Community College and the College Of New Jersey. He continues to enjoy studying various periods of art history but especially likes Realism and Impressionism. He has been a consistent award winner his entire painting career especially at the Salmagundi Club, NYC. He is a two-time winner of the following 2 top awards given by the Club. The Arthur T. Hill Memorial Award the Best landscape by an Artist 45 years or younger” and the Alden Bryan Memorial Award for Traditional Landscape in Oil”, which is the top prize given at the Members Exhibition. In 2008 the Salmagundi Club reinstated the Vezin Purchase Award with the purchase of Budden’s Faltiron painting. His painting will hang along side some of the most important American painters throughout history that have been members at the Club. In 2006, Mike was invited to design the White House Easter Egg representing New Jersey and met with the First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush during the unveiling of the exhibit. Mr. Budden is a member of the following art organizations, Allied Artists of America, American Artists Professional League, Audubon Artists, American Society of Marine Artists A list of galleries and catalog of work can be found at www.mikebudden.com.

A stunning and pertinent example of Berthelsen's charming New York City winter scenes depicting Saint Paul's Chapel in the snow. It was built in 1766 as the chapel building of Trinity Church, located at 209 Broadway, between Fulton Street and Vesey Street, in Lower Manhattan, New York City. An iconic scene that so many have come to love and cherish. The artist was truly a master of capturing New York in all of its glory throughout the seasons. Johann Berthelsen was born in Copenhagen in 1883, the 7th of seven children, to Conrad and Dorothea Karen Berthelsen. His parents were involved in artistic and professional circles. In 1890, his mother brought the children to America, settling in Manistee, Michigan, with her sister's family. They would eventually move to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, a city on the shore of Lake Michigan. As a teenager, Johann was actively involved in choirs and singing groups. And he always loved to draw and paint, and while he was too impatient to take well to schoolwork, and never went beyond the 5th grade.
Although he worked in several trades, Johann's mind and heart were always with the arts. As his voice matured, he also always wanted to be an actor, and at the age of 18 moved to Chicago where he reconnected with an old friend who was studying voice at the Chicago Musical...

"Friday Feb 19th, NY City" Impressionist Bustling City Snow Scene Oil Painting
Located in New York, NY
Impressionist New York City winter landscape scene depicting the City in Snow in a most intimate, yet energetic way. Christopher is known for capturing the beauty and simplicity of an earlier time of the 20th Century; old New York, families working together, villages and farms and friends taking walks together. Many are depicted in recognizable historical settings and this piece is an excellent example of this as he captures a snow-filled historic setting of New York with the calm, endearing charm of American Flags and buildings with snow. Christopher engages his audience with the quick use of brushwork and great attention to picking up the energy passionately of his subjects. The piece comes housed in a dark tone wood frame and it is ready to be displayed with hanging hardware on verso.
