About the Item
Monique Lowy is indeed a contemporary artist. His painting work is also a research on the duality of human feelings; a symbolic and cultural confrontation through a dreamlike world, and then also a work on everyday life. An in-depth study of his contemporaries in an acute and passionate observation of the world of the living around him. Often this can recall this Flemish school, of which Peter Bruegel is a marvelous example, which allows us, centuries later, to better perceive its time.
Monique Lowy's painting is also the material, the oil, which absorbs the light and restores the patterns in volume, a palette of great richness, a touch that goes from the abstract to the figurative.
Come closer, a little more, and then step back and you will see the magic take place.
Marc Bonuchet.
"More than obediently detailing, under quiet appearances, Monique Lowy's painting, if one observes the course of her metamorphoses, reveals a realistic gesture that is most often irreverent, which stems from the conflicting outbursts of a violently tested experience. everything, it evokes in a mocking, even grating tone, the adventures of an existence in which the artist captures the most significant moments, through a series of images, which, although they espouse real life, intersect with the imagination Thus are born, by associations of ideas joining past and present, absurd visions which call forth others, as in a sort of grand puppet enamelled with masked characters and unusual parentheses.
We should not see in these atmospheres, surrealist dizziness, or narrative figuration, but a caustic iconography, often close to the fantastic, which takes us where we do not hope.

"Landscape #10", oil painting on cradled wood, resin finish, black wood frame
Located in Toronto, Ontario
Landscape #10 is an oil painting on cradled wood panel with chalk and graphite, and measures 24" high by 18" wide by 2" deep. It is finished with a clear resin across the surface, lending Landscape #10 a particular warmth and liquidity that is lovely to behold. It is framed in a black wood shadowbox frame.
Will’s new landscapes are inspired by the shorelines of Lake Erie and the farmland of Norfolk County, Ontario. His true project – to explore and capture sudden bursts of cloud light, a disintegrating horizon, the ephemeral nature of shifting shores and lands.
From Will Hudson: “From one day to the next it seemed nothing was the same. There was no permanence to a particular view or setting. That’s what I painted.”
Recognized for seductive, enigmatic works in oil on wood panel, Will's picture surfaces are fascinating – he favors oil paint with chalk and graphite – and often allows the wood grain to emerge as a natural texture. He finishes each painting with a clear resin that operates as a lens. Admitting light and transmitting light, lending a palpable warmth and liquidity to the experience.
Will Hudson is a formally trained architect originally from the UK, now practicing in Toronto, Canada. With an eclectic career in the art world, Will has shown and performed chalk street painting and murals in across North America and Europe. His installations have been exhibited at Nuit Blanche in Toronto in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014. His paintings were featured in a solo show, "Things You Think You've Seen" at Artists' Network Gallery in 2018. His most recent solo exhibitions were here at Gagné Contemporary...
