About the Item

This beautiful painting by Nacho Reina is a formidable example of the interplay between form and color forms as the central axis of his work, where he starts from architectural shapes as a pretext to present chromatic contrasts in their various expressions, using contemporary and vibrant palettes. Nacho’s compositions, with large shapes that appear to be monochromatic at first glance, may initially recall graphic techniques such as screen printing. However, he goes further by introducing striped texture patterns with endless shades, resulting in vibrant atmospheres inspired by the use of color seen in 19th-century French Impressionist painting. Details: Title: Lugar #15 Medium: Acrylic painting and color pencil on watercolor paper Size: 70x50 cm (28x20 inches). BIO Nacho Reina (Seville, 1985) is a Spanish artist based in Madrid. In his recent work, he draws directly from architectural principles to construct minimalist compositions that investigate space, volume, and surface. Each work, executed in acrylic and colored pencil on paper, evokes structural forms—walls, corners, roofs, and facades—reduced to their geometric essence. Through precise planes and bold angles, Reina translates the logic of built environments into abstract configurations. The result is a body of work that treats painting as a spatial discipline, where form and surface are meticulously balanced, and each painting reflects a studied interplay between color and structure, inviting viewers to consider how space can be defined and reimagined through abstraction.

"Blue, Blue" Playful Abstract Geometric Shades of Blue White Orange
By Margo Margolis
Located in Wellesley, MA
This abstraction by NY based artist Margo Margolis has a very sophisticated/playful sensibility with brilliant, intense color (light blue, dark blue, orange and white) which is the significant attribute of the artist's flashe medium, a water based French paint. Consisting of multiple layers of underpainting and glazing, and contrasts between hard and soft edges, these paintings not only have associations with Henri Matisse's palette and Alexander Calder's sculptural forms, but also share in these artists' complexities after relatively straightforward initial first takes. Fresh and intelligent exploration into the possibilities for abstraction are Margolis's focus, and her paintings achieve that rare quality of making abstraction feel new. Margo Margolis "Blue, Blue" 2022 Flashe on Canvas 40 x 32 x 1.25 Inches This painting is unframed and framing is not necessary as the sides are painted white. It is currently on view in an exhibition of the artist's work in Wellesley, MA where it is featured in a group of works of varying sizes, small, medium, and large: 24 x 20 inches, 40 x 32 inches, 72 x 60 inches, and works on paper measuring 30 x 22 inches. Also available are a series of earlier small canvases measuring 14 x 11 inches each which also work well as groupings. Margolis’s continuing commitment to abstract painting dates back to the early 1970s when she began exhibiting with the Brooke Alexander Gallery in New York where she had several shows. In addition her work has been exhibited throughout the country at numerous galleries and institutions including The Pennsylvania Academy of Art, The Renaissance Society, The Munson-Williams Proctor Institute and Halls Walls, among others. In reviewing the artist’s 1993 exhibition in the Beth Urdang...

Future III: modernist urban architectural monoprint & collage in gray blue black
Located in Bryn Mawr, PA
"Future III" is a Bauhaus-inspired monotype and collage (work on paper) reminiscent of the aesthetic of Le Corbusier. It is part of Bouton’s "Habitat and Urban Matter" series, which is inspired by the straight lines of modernist architecture and hard-edged geometrical forms of the urban environment. Bouton, a French printmaker from Paris who has also lived in London, Myanmar, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Turkey, creates work that responds to her experiences during her travels and the cultures she encountered. Since settling in the Philadelphia area, she has been inspired by the urbanism of the city, whether a sleek, new apartment block, an abandoned warehouse, or a half-demolished home. Her latest works are interpretations of these buildings, with both broad street views and focused details from single structures –- the pattern of the skyline, a patchwork of broken windows, an industrial color palette. She is drawn to the history of the spaces and lives lived within these buildings, as well as their intrinsic beauty of the structures, whether that beauty emerges from design or degradation, or some combination of the two. Signed and dated. Bouton is a French artist living and working in the Philadelphia area whose boundary-pushing printmaking and paper works exhibit influence from living and working in international cities across the globe. Bouton earned her BFA in Painting and Printmaking and her MFA in Arts and Textile Design from the prestigious ESSAA Duperré in Paris, France. Since leaving Paris 15 years ago, Bouton has lived and exhibited her work internationally in Paris (France), London (UK), Philadelphia (USA), Rangoon (Burma/Myanmar), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Dakar (Senegal) and Istanbul (Turkey). She has presented solo exhibitions at the Biennale de l’Art Africain...
